Checking out materials from Northview
Elementary School Library is reserved for staff members (including
Kids' Place) and students only. Checking out an item from the
library is a privilege. It is the responsibility of the student
or staff member to care for the item while it is out on loan.
Staff Members
- The loan period for staff members is 2
weeks
for audiovisual and print materials.
- Equipment is loaned only to teachers
and
designated staff members for a period of 1 school year.
- Audiovisual materials (videos,
computer
software, books on tape, big books, kits, etc.) are loaned only
to teachers and other
- designated staff members.
- Teachers may check out non-circulating
materials for classroom use (i.e. reference materials, magazines
and computer software).
Students
- Students check out books from the
circulating library collection.
- The number of books checked out may be changed upon teacher
request.
- The loan period for circulating items for students is one
week.
- Students in grades K- 3 may
check out
one book per week. Students in 4th grade may check out 2
books per week. One of those books must be on their
appropriate STAR level and the other a book of their choice.
- During the year,
students may be required to check out specific types of books as they
relate to the curriculum. For example, 3rd and 4th grade students
will be required to check out a biography and take and Accelerated
Reader quiz on that book as part of the Library/Reading
curriculum.
- Students may not check out periodicals, reference materials
or big
books.
- Students may not check out materials until previously
checked out
materials are returned.
